As a conservative nationalist, she belonged to the Diet members’ league to support the Japanese Society for History Textbook Reform. Koike was one of the five vice secretaries general of the Diet Members’ Committee of Nippon Kaigi, the country’s largest conservative think tank and the main historical revisionist lobby, once chaired by Tarō Asō.

She was a member of the Diet members’ group to promote Yasukuni Shrine visits, led by Yoshinobu Shimamura, and goes to pay her respects to the war dead at the shrine on War-End Day, 15 August, almost every year. She also is a horrible racist who has been tied to a (mainly anti-Korean) hate-spewing ultra nationalistic group and has attributed Japan’s population decline to “a lack in strong, dependable men”. She also has mentioned that she wants American nuclear missiles placed in Tokyo to defend against North Korea, and has continuously supported (and is still currently supported by) groups and people pushing to downplay the atrocities committed by Imperial Japan before and during WW2.
